National Meteorological Service

MeteoSwiss is the national weather service. As such, it performs its meteorological tasks to the benefit of the population, industry and public institutions.

Weather warning

MeteoSwiss informs the public authorities and intervention organisations of approaching extreme weather conditions. This ensures that the police and the fire service for example receive sufficient advanced warning of those weather conditions that require the deployment of higher numbers of personnel and greater material resources. MeteoSwiss works closely with the National Emergency Operations Centre.
