Civilian and military training

NBC protection training incorporates both civilian and military elements.

Civilian NBC protection training

In the civilian domain, the Federal Office for Civil Protection defines the need for training, based on the civil protection mission statement and its training concept. The military centre of NBC expertise in Spiez also assists with the design, running and further development of NBC protection courses/training. The courses are aimed first and foremost at NBC protection leaders in civilian bodies, as well as individuals who are qualified in radiation protection within emergency organisations.

Military NBC protection training

In the military domain, the military centre of NBC expertise Komp Zen ABC sets out the NBC training requirements for all troops and the armed forces (land and air). It has direct responsibility for the planning and running of all schools and courses for NBC defence troops. The Komp Zen ABC also assists with civilian NBC protection training and runs similar training courses for national and international partners.
